About Jessica

I have struggled so much about what to write in this ‘About Jessica’ page. At first I wanted to proudly display my artwork, show off my ‘qualifications’; then I wanted to come up with a creative and witty synopsis of my life, it started like this:

“I grew up in an artist’s home. My elementary school science project was about how colors blended together. Red and Blue to make Purple, Yellow and Blue to make Green. None of the walls of my childhood home were ever white. This is my foundation.As I grew older I had a passion for anything glittering or colorful, music and the outdoors. I am majoring in German Language and Culture at the University of California, Riverside. I graduate with my BA this spring.”

I realized then just how cheesy that was, and that since my life is relatively short and my witeven shorter I realized this was not a very good plan either.

Then it hit me; this page should not be about me because Marchen Studios is not about me. Marchen Studios is bigger then me, it is a dream that out grew me. This page should be about what that dream is, and what it means for me.

Marchen Studios is a place of community for artists and untrained artist. Untrained artists are people like me, who have a lot of desire, a little bit of talent and hardly any training at all. It is a place to drink coffee, have a muffin and become inspired for what the world could be, could look like, if only we changed our perspective. It is a place to practice and refine skills as well as play and laugh and try something new. I want it to be a place full of music, the smell of paint, light and laughter. Marchen Studios is a dream that out grew me.
